The White Abbey Ballroom is an ex NHS building with a quirky design, repurposed into a prestigious function centre. Empace were appointed to assist with the structural alteration of the building.

The original internal arrangement needed reconfiguration to open up the inside of the building to create a large, grand function hall. This required the demolition of the internal load bearing core, a complex task that needed careful consideration using advanced finite element analysis to re-channel the stability of the building to a new steelwork spine. This had implications also on the foundations which needed strengthening.
