Work under way at Victor Street Masjid
September 23, 2026

Construction is now under way at Victor Street Masjid in Bradford, where the masjid is extending into the neighbouring Church of St Luke, a Grade II listed church built in 1880 to 1881.
The scheme forms a new basement beneath the existing church. Empace designed the structure and the temporary works sequence that keeps the church’s masonry walls and heavy stone columns supported while the ground beneath them is excavated and new supports are built underneath. Each column base is encased in a reinforced concrete jacket and picked up on temporary steel beams, and the walls are carried down to basement level by underpinning built in a planned hit and miss sequence.
We are attending site to inspect the works as they progress.
